Photographs and stamps exhibition on Allama Iqbal was held at Zahoor ul Akhlaq Gallery, National College of Arts, Shahrah-e-Qauid-i-Azam, Lahore on April 28 - 30, 2011. The occasion also marked the launch of 2nd issued of 'Sohbet', a journal of contemporary arts and culture by NCA. The bi-annual journal represents the works of academics from different parts of the world, besides that of artists and the faculty of NCA.
The guest speaker on the occasion was Shehrbano Taseer, a writer and a journalist. Inviting her as the guest speaker was a matter of symbolic significance because on the launch of first issue of Sohbet, then Governor of the Punjab, Salman Taseer was the chief guest. On the second launch his daughter was invited. Another significant thing was that Mr. M.D.Taseer, her grandfather, was one of the intellectual luminaries on the horizon of India who shared deep spiritual affinity with Allama Iqbal. Speaking on the occasion, the moving spirit behind the event, Suroosh Irfani, threw light on the deep spiritual union between M.D.Taseer and Allama Iqbal.
The exhibition showcased rare family photos of Allama Iqbal, his belongings, literary works and commemorative postage stamps and postal stationery issued after his name on various occasions. Six frames displayed there of stamps on Allama Iqbal, attracted the students and faculty members of National College of Arts. Photos of Allama Iqbal were displayed by Loh Kot Heritage and Culture Center, therefore the stamps collection was exhibited by Mian Sajid Ali of Allama Iqbal Stamps Society.
