Un-issued - block of four (imperf)

A block of four imperf un-issued stamp on the occasion of Allama Iqbal Year 2002. This design of stamp was not approved by the approval authorities. The photo which was shown in the above imperf taken by Sirdar Umrao Singh in Paris, 1933, while Iqbal was resting after a severe attack of cold and fatigue from walking.

Error in Machine Stamp

This envelop posted from Block 3, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi post office. The spellings of Gulshan-e-Iqbal are incorrect where the machine stamp exist on the envelop. "Gilshan" instead of Gulshan.

IQBAL MEMORIAL FUND STAMPS
As part of a campaign to obtain contributions to the Iqbal Memorial Fund, Government of Pakistan is issuing four imperforated stamps of Re.1, Rs.5, Rs.10 and Rs.100 denominations to be known as Iqbal Memorial Fund stamps which will be put on sale from Post Office from March 15, 1978. These imperforated stamps are not Postage Stamps and cannot, therefore, be used for the prepayment of postage. Salient features of stamps in question are given in the accompaying postal notice.

All Post Offices which have more than one counter/window for public transactions should indicate the counter/window at which Iqbal Memorial Fund Stamps are available for sale.

The stamps will be supplied by the Ministry of Finance through the Controller of Stamps to the Head Post Offices, where from supplies will be made to sub and branch offices. On receipt of supply of stamps from the Controller of Stamps the same will be entered in a stock and sale register by the Head Offices.

Note: The above detail about Iqbal Memorial Fund took from the Director General's Circular No.16 of Pakistan Post Office, Karachi on March 16, 1978 under the Section-I of Postal Services.

After rejection of these above designs, just after few days of the circulation then The Government of Pakistan decided to raise the fund from The National Bank of Pakistan through coupons. The major reason of cancellation is that the area of occupied Kashmir was shown in the map of Pakistan.

Signature of the Stamp Designer

The signature of Mr. Adil Salahuddin on the First Day Cover which issued on January 14, 2005 by Pakistan Post on Iqbal-Eminescu. Mr. Adil Salahuddin is the designer of one stamp of that issue.

Iqbal Academy Pakistan
The Iqbal Academy in Lahore, founded in 1951 by the Iqbal Academy Act and re-enacted through the Iqbal Academy Ordinance No. XXVI of 1962, Iqbal Academy Pakistan, is a statutory body of the Government of Pakistan. The Federal Cabinet in its meeting held on January 27, 1997 decided to transfer the Academy to Culture, Sports and Tourism Division. In pursuance of the Cabinet decision, the Academy now stands transferred to Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs with effect from April 14, 1997.
The aims and objectives of the Academy are to promote and disseminate the study and understanding of the works and teachings of Allama Iqbal.
To promote these comprehensive objectives fruitfully, the work of the Academy is divided into two distinct parts:
a) Study of Iqbal’s work, and
b) Study of all those movements of thought, philosophical, political, literary, social, cultural, etc., that can help in understanding the works of Iqbal – movements of thought within the Islamic tradition as well as these belonging to traditions of other cultures that happened to influence the mind of Iqbal, positively or negatively.
Aims and objectives of the Academy as given in the Iqbal Academy Ordinance 1962, is as under:
i) To promote the study and understanding of the works of Iqbal;
ii) To institute scholarships and lectureships for furthering the study of the works and teachings of Iqbal;
iii) To publish books, pamphlets and periodicals relating to the said study;
iv) To award prizes, rewards and donations to authors who, in the opinion of the Academy, have made contributions to the study of the works and teachings of Iqbal, and to enter into contracts with authors in order to carry out the purposes of the Ordinance;
v) To organize lectures, talks, discussions, study groups and conferences on Iqbal and to send delegates to conferences held in foreign countries for the study of Iqbal’s works and teachings, or for any matter to which that study is relevant or by which it may be advanced or profited;
vi) To confer in the prescribed manner Fellowships on scholars who, in the opinion of the Academy, have made contributions to the study of the works and teachings of Iqbal.

December 31, 2008 - Indian Post issued an FDC on A.T.Paneerselvam's stamp. This FDC Shows the picture of Second Round Table Conference 1931, London in which Allama Iqbal's appearance as the heading the table while Maulana Shoukat Ali is sitting first in the left row.
